Ici, on fait le tour d'horizon des chansons et artistes qui ont obtenu du succès aux États-Unis, au Royaume-Uni, au Canada, en France et au Québec (pour la chanson francophone).
Un des plus gros succès de 1996 était la chanson "Macarena (Bayside Boys Mix)" de Los del Rio en faisant partie du top 10 aux États-Unis et en France.
Celine Dion a obtenu beaucoup de succès avec la chanson "Because You Loved Me" en la mettant dans le Top 10 aux États-Unis et au Canada. Elle a réussi l'exploit de mettre 2 ou 3 chansons dans le top 100 aux États-Unis, au Royaume-Uni, au Canada, en France et au Québec.
Les Spice Girls ont eu du succès avec la chanson "Wannabe" alors qu'elle se place dans le Top 10 au Royaume-Uni et en France pour 1996 alors que l'année suivante elle va se retrouver dans le Top 10 aux États-Unis en 1997.
